New direction for OmniMusic

OmniMusic has been creating assistive music technology (AMT) and working in education across Greater Manchester for nearly 30 years. But in the last couple of years, we’ve been on an exciting journey of change.

In 2022, we welcomed EJ Trivett as our new CEO. EJ brings a wealth of experience from the creative sector and a real passion for helping organisations like ours become more sustainable and resilient—especially in these challenging financial times.

In the past, we focused on ad hoc sessions and short-term projects using AMT. But since 2022, we’ve shifted direction. We’re now working more closely with a cluster of schools and community groups, building stronger partnerships. This approach allows us to pool our resources, work at a larger scale, and provide even better value for schools and funders.

Tech development remains a big part of what we do, and we’re committed to keeping our users’ needs at the heart of it all. By focusing on tech that integrates with existing equipment, we’re making sure it stays affordable and accessible.

2024 has been a milestone year for us! We unveiled a fresh new look, thanks to the incredible work of Amy Manning, and launched our shiny new website. But that’s not all—our biggest project yet, Rise, turned two lifts at Merseyway Shopping Centre in Stockport into accessible music sessions.

And to top it all off, we were honoured to win the Grassroots Award: Small but Mighty at the Curious Minds Northern Cultural Education Awards. It’s been an amazing journey so far, but we’re just getting started. Next up? Growing the number of schools we partner with. We’re so excited for what’s ahead!
