Thanks to funding from The National Lottery Communities Fund, we’ve been able to reach out to our musicians across Stockport and deliver a series of remote music making sessions during the lockdown.
Musicians from Disability Stockport and Supportability have been joining our weekly workshops via Zoom, some joining individually from their own home due to shielding, and others as a group from Primus at Disability Stockport. Andy and Doug, our lead tutors (and tech gurus!) have programmed and installed specialist assistive music technology for each participant so they can join in with the music making.
We’ve got a great band of merry music makers together including Steve on the Soundbeam, Robert on the keyboard, Bryan L on the midi creator, Helen and Natalie on guitar, and Jayne and Kelly on Thumbjam.
Every week we sing our favourite songs – including two of our own creations! – and talk about the music we each like. Everyone plays solos on their instruments and jams along with the rest of the band.
