Same Road, Different Journey
24th March 2022“I loved the music sessions as I like to sing for my friends. I am looking forward to showing my music to my sister!” Participant from The Shaw Centre

We’ve recently been working with The Shaw Centre in North Manchester – a day centre offering support for adults with learning disabilities – exploring creative writing and music making as a group.
As this was our first project together, we began by trying out different kinds of Assistive Music Technology and various percussion instruments, seeing what sounds we could create and how we would put them together with words. From that, the group decided to create a collection of songs based on poems they had written which reflected their own experiences of the Covid Lockdown in 2020.
From July – November 2021, the group wrote, refined, performed and recorded their new music, creating their very own album: Same Road, Different Journey. Take a listen!
Thanks to Our Manchester for making this project possible!
